Giesswein Merino Wool Knit: Review, test & experience
Giesswein Merino Wool Knit are the successor of the famous Merino Runners, which of course are still available. For these shoes, too, we had made a Giesswein Merino Runners test back then, in which we came to an extreme conclusion in addition to the care instructions. But are the new Merino Wool Knit Sneakers really even better in wearing behavior and durability? Here is our experience test including discount voucher.

Difference between Giesswein Wool Knit and Merino Runners
Giesswein has been offering the so-called Merino Runners in its product range since 2018 and has thus completely stirred up the “sneaker business”. Because until then this did not exist. A sneaker completely made of wool. The merino wool provides a great foot climate, as it warms and at the same time prevents sweaty feet. Our editorial staff has been using these shoes for over a year and even if you wear them constantly barefoot (goes with these shoes in summer as well as in winter) you won’t get sweaty feet. Although we don’t have a long-term test yet and have only been wearing the new Wool Knit shoes for a few months, we have again this “feel-good effect” in the shoe, which you don’t get with any other shoe if you wear it barefoot.
But still there are differences between the Wool Knit and the Merino Runners, which we would like to mention briefly:
-
- The look: Of course, the new Merino Wool Knit shoes look smoother, more elegant and somehow “tidier” in the surface than the fluffy and soft Merino runners. Here is a direct comparison of the surface:
Giesswein Merino Wool Knit Price?
The cost of Merino Wool Knit is similar to Merino Runner. The price for a pair of Wool Knit Sneakers is currently $139 in all stores. If you want to save $13,90 you can do so in combination with our voucher code. Just select on this page and put the shoes you want into the shopping cart. Then enter the voucher code FBUS10. In combination with our voucher code, the Wool Knit then costs only 125 dollar. At Amazon such a voucher is not possible, so that we recommend the uncomplicated way over the action landing page of Giesswein!
Giesswein Merino inserts
All Giesswein Merino Sneakers (no matter if Merino Runner or Wool Knit) come with an insole, which is also made of Merino wool, so that the feet don’t start sweating over it. If you need a replacement, you can order an exchangeable footbed (you can see here) for $19.
Our personal recommendation is the orthopedic footbed, which you can order separately from Giesswein (somewhat hidden). This insole provides the necessary support for people with fallen arches. It costs $39,95, but we can absolutely recommend it.
Giesswein Merino Wool Knit Conclusion?
In our editorial department, opinions are divided minimally. The new Giesswein Wool Knit is as light and comfortable to wear as the Merino Runner. In terms of appearance, however, the Wool Knit is much simpler and more elegant, so that it can be worn very well as a leisure shoe, but also at work. So if you are considering wearing the shoe for more chic occasions, the Merino Wool Knit is definitely an interesting alternative to the Merino Runner. The new knotting technique is somewhat at the expense of the Merino wool look. It is therefore not directly recognizable that you are wearing pure merino wool on your feet. Some of us in the editorial office think that’s a pity, because in their eyes this is exactly what made the sneaker an eye-catcher.

But we also noticed that the Giesswein Wool Knit is much less susceptible to dirt because dust and dirt adhere even worse in the knitted wool. But since this was not a big problem for the Merino Runners either (knock it out once and it looks like new) this is only a small advantage for the Wool Knit.
